My Must-have Products for Healthy and Shiny Hair

Today I am chatting about all the haircare products that I have been loving this past year. Questions I frequently see in my Instagram messages are, “What shampoo do you use?” or, “How do you get your hair so shiny!?” Well, I am here to answer those questions and break down the products that I always have on hand or have repurchased often.

I am always testing new products, however, these are pretty tried and true in my routine. For some background, I have straight, thin hair that is NOT color-treated or bleached. Most, if not all, of these products are free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates- ingredients that you want to avoid, especially if you have color-treated hair! Also, I wash my hair every other day (ex. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, Tuesday, etc.) and find that this keeps my hair from ever getting too oily at the scalp, or dry at the ends!

Acure Vivacious Volume Shampoo– This peppermint-infused shampoo stimulates the scalp and works up a rich lather to fully cleanse the hair and leave it weightless. I really love this drugstore find and incorporate it into my weekly washing routine often. I love using this in the morning as a nice little wake-up in the shower! Best part is that it is paraben free, sulfate free, mineral oil free, petrolatum free, silicone free, AND cruelty free. I plan on exploring more Acure haircare in the near future!

Briogeo Be Gentle Be Kind Shampoo + Conditioner As many of you know, I am a Briogeo enthusiast and have been using their Rosarco line for about a year. I love their products because they are mostly naturally derived and don’t have any parabens, sulfates, silicones or other unhealthy ingredients in their products. These particular products leave my hair feeling soft, hydrated, SO clean and smooth. The Be Gentle Be Kind line was inspired by the whole green juice craze and includes superfoods such as matcha, green apple, and kale in the formula to strengthen your locks and make them look vibrant as heck. I think this would be best for those of you who have dry or damaged hair in need a boost of hydration. I highly suggest you guys check them out and purchase them in the pack to save some money.

*If you have curly hair, I would recommend this Briogeo shampoo, and if you are looking for a shampoo thats seriously going to remove any build up, I’d recommend this one!

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Leave-In Conditioning Spray– As many of you know, this has been and always will be a staple in my post-shower routine. I’ve already gone through two large bottles! It is perfect to spray into your hair right after the shower and before brushing to ensure a snag-free experience. Formulated with rosehip, argan, and coconut oils, this milky leave in conditioner eliminates frizz and protects against heat damage. It leaves your hair soft, smooth, and smelling SO good. As I mentioned above, Briogeo is a totally clean hair line which makes this product 10x better!

Gloss Moderne Clean Luxury Masque First off, this is the greatest smelling hair product I have ever used. I wouldn’t be able to do the scent any justice if I tried to describe it. You will have to go take a sniff for yourself….just trust me on this. The masque is a thick cream that you work into your hair (I suggest from the ears down) from anywhere between 5 minutes (after shampooing) and overnight (on dry hair) . I have also used this as a super quick 2-minute conditioning treatment and it leaves my hair so soft and silky. My hair feels hydrated for days (don’t pretend like you wash your hair every day) after using this and my frizz is dramatically reduced. I love that this is also a clean luxury brand that doesn’t have any sulfates or parabens in its formulas.

Ouai Hair Oil– If I am not using my Briogeo Rosarco Spray, I am using the Hair Oil by Ouai. This hair oil fights frizz, prevents heat/UV damage, and delivers a high-gloss, super-smooth finish to all hair types. Don’t let the term, “oil” scare you away- it is light as can be and never weighs my hair down. I have long hair and use two-three pumps, max, to coat all my hair. It has a floral scent that doesn’t linger too long, but keeps your hair smelling nice.

Ouai Texturizing Hairspray– This product is unique because it combines the texturizing aspects of dry shampoo and the holding power of a hairspray. I love using this on days where I curl my hair because it holds the style, builds volume, but never is crunchy or sticky. This has become my go-to hairspray and never fails!

Kaia Naturals Takesumi Detox Overnight Dry Shampoo– This clean beauty dry shampoo has climbed to the top of my list of all my dry shampoos. For those of you who don’t know, I had an MRI back in the fall (I’m fine!!) and felt all the tiny hairs on my head move just so slightly during the exam. An MRI machine is basically a giant magnet that takes images of soft tissue in your body. Little did I know that the machine was picking up on trace amounts of aluminum from a previous dry shampoo I was using! Since that day, I made it a point to only test and use dry shampoos that were aluminum-FREE. There are so many substitutes and we don’t need metals sitting on our scalps! Anyways, enter Kaia Naturals. This slightly tinted dry shampoo is perfect for those of you with brunette hair! Don’t worry blondes, there’s a version for you too! This dry shampoo is formulated with charcoal and rice starch to detox the scalp and remove any oils or impurities from your hair. Also, it smells AMAZING. It has an easy-to-use manual pump which eliminates the need for any aerosols. I love applying this at night to prevent any oils from building up while I am sleeping, and wake up with fresh hair!

Kristin Ess Blow Dry Mist– A newer drugstore find and addition to my collection is this blow dry mist! I spray this lightweight mist on my towel dried hair before blow drying. Truly an all in one product- it cuts down on drying time, detangles, adds shine, and protects against heat damage. It has a wonderful scent that lasts ALL day long. Also, it’s $14! Amazing.
